Synopsis:
Street photographer, Nicholas Wynia, explores the life of Alvaro, a fishmonger living off the coast of Rivas, Nicaragua. Wynia finds both extraordinary beauty in the sea and people living there, but also a global economic system that has put massive pressure on the local fisherman and their way of life.
Director Bio:
Nicholas Wynia grew up in Story City, Iowa. He has worked extensively in Central and South America exploring the themes of conquest and colonization. His background is in documentary photography, art, and film. He teaches photography and freelances in Philadelphia. Wynia is a Fulbright scholar and holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin.
